Kazuma, Kazuma! This datapack adds a special carrot on a stick staff that grants the user explosion magic! (A very basic datapack made for fun.)
Survival Update!?
Hi everyone! Nick Ryder here with a smollish update for the pack: The explosion staff version 1 is now craftable! I also reduced the drawbacks (the paralysis lasts for 5 seconds rather than 30, and attacking/mining disabilities last 10 seconds total) to make the pack actually playable in survival. Think of this as the lovechild of Kazuma's tact and Megumin's magic. Less firepower but better mobility!
To craft: place a stick and an ender pearl in any slots in a crafting table or inventory crafting space. Grab the book that appears and you'll be given the staff!
I still haven't been able to fix the level 2 explosion staff. So far the only way to viably use that one is to be playing co-op and have someone shoot arrows at it to activate the explosion (and have a third person building cover to survive the blast, if you all want to survive that is...). Still looking at tweaks.

NOTICE: Explosion staff level 2 will not work in minecraft 1.16. I am working on a fix for it currently. The first version of the staff works in minecraft versions 1.15-1.16
Update!?: This pack now uses the Explosions resource pack available in the new .zip download here! The datapack and resource pack come packaged in the same zip file for your convenience :)

Retrieve the Ekkuspurooosion staff by using /reload in the in-game chat!
Specs:
-unbreakable
-no melee damage
-special: Ekkuspurooosion!
-deals high explosion damage at center (kills most mobs in one cast), centered 25 blocks away from the caster.
-sets most remaining mobs and blocks at the center of the explosion on fire.
-deals a larger radius of moderate explosion damage outward from center (30-ish block radius)
-inflicts slow VII on the caster for 30 seconds (no mobility)
-inflicts slow IV-V on the caster for 60 seconds (greatly reduced mobility)
-inflicts weakness V (yes, on the caster) for 5 minutes
-inflicts mining fatigue V for 5 minutes.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for any damage done to homes, towns, cities, monuments, naturally occurring land formations, etc. whatsoever from the usage of this pack. You can disable damage to blocks from this spell by the command /gamerule mobGriefing false

Realistically speaking, I feel like a 5 minute cooldown for the ability itself would be accurate but also render the pack nearly unplayable in single player (spamming does give you the chance to double-tap before you're doomed to sit and wait around for 5 minutes, whereas you're definitely going to die if you miss with only one cast every 5 minutes)
That said, I'm on break from school now, so I'll see what I can do now that I have the time :D
