It looks like a nice datapack, though using a single knowledge book like that can cause some "interference" with other datapacks, so why don't you add a count to the knowledge book (example: 15) and also check in the item data if it has that count before giving the player the item.



Another suggestion is making the ladders smoothly animate down using a falling block teleporting to an armor stand that slowly falls down, and as it goes past you can make the ladders appear making the function a lot easier to make whilst also making it looks good.



You can also remove italics on the name making it look a lot cleaner as an item.
