A convenience data pack to make the game easier
It was more useful before we got renewable Lava sources, but it's still very convenient.
The principle of it is that a cauldron filled with Lava should cook anything in a furnace above it. So I coded it so it would.
But to not make it too OP, I set it so it would have negatives:
- it takes two lava bucket to set up. One to fill the cauldron, one to throw on the furnace
- it WILL lag if you have too many of those in loaded chunks, because it uses an armorstand to check for things. Too many entities will lag. (And if you're on a server with some entity cleanup, it might destroy them)
- You cannot have this in an auto-smelter because the cauldron is under the furnace so you can't put a hopper under it anymore. You trade automatic and infinity. Can't have both.
How to use:
- Set a cauldron filled with lava somewhere
- Put any of the furnaces on top of that cauldron
- Throw a lava bucket on top of the furnace
- You get an empty bucket back, and there is now a special lava bucket in the furnace which you cannot remove.
- Get to smelting/cooking
If you want to break the auto lava bucket, you need to break the cauldron.
Update for 1.20.1, using the new interactions entities instead of armor stands, which makes this datapack even lighter and less ressource heavy! (not that it was very much so anyway, but now it's optimised to the best)
If you want the old version for a world pre-interaction entities update, drop a comment and I'll post a download link
It's an old datapack I made two years ago, but I never posted it. Found it while cleaning my mc folder, so enjoy

Once the cauldron is full, place a furnace of any type on top, and then throw a bucket filled with lava ON the furnace.
