I made a NEW Datapack that allows you to get more planks by placing them in a Stonecutter!
If you put any type of wood in the stonecutter it will give you 8 planks of that type of wood!

How to install the datapack and play:
1) Open %appdata%/.minecraft/saves
2) After select your world you want to put it in.
3) Find the datapacks folder in your worlds folder and put it in.
Enjoy playing!
