Do you think Minecraft needs more particle effects? Here's a datapack for you.

Adds particle effects to the following things:
  • Lit furnaces under water produce bubbles.
  • Furnaces drying a sponge produce steam.
  • Mobs/players on fire trail smoke.
  • Mobs/players produce steam when extinguished in water.
  • Underwater chests release bubbles when opened.
  • Players in creative mode float on a cloud while flying. (can be disabled with /tag @s add nocloud)
  • TNT produces a flash of light when exploded.
  • TNT produces a cloud of bubbles when exploded under water.
  • TNT produces a cloud of smoke when exploded.
  • Holding a dye in either hand while flying with elytra leaves a smoke trail of that color.
  • Holding gunpowder in either hand while flying with elytra leaves a long gray smoke trail.



Not useful, just pretty.

does this also work for chests on boats that are underwater?

It probably wouldn't make sense considering that chests in boats don't open, but maybe it could still spawn bubbles.

On by default, can be disabled per-player (and as of v1.2, globally)

And more! You can add smog when a TNT explodes!
And, when a Minecart with Furnace is working, it should produce smoke too!

Hey, thanks for the suggestion of TNT smoke, I've added it in the new version. Also, Minecart with Furnace smokes already, no need for me to do anything to it.
