Nameless v1.0

Naming a named entity - "nameless" or "Nameless" will remove that entity's name, reverting it back to normal. (Removes persistency).
Naming an entity "p_nameless" or "p_Nameless" will remove the name and KEEP the mob's persistency tag, preventing it from despawning.

This can be a useful tool for people who don't like a name they've given a mob, or want to remove a name for other reasons.

Make sure to read the README.txt file fully.

Enjoy!

Persistency : by Topaz1000 07/17/2020 4:01:04 amJuly 17, 2020 @ 8:01 am UTC

Added option to name the entity "p_nameless" or "p_Nameless" which will keep the mob's persistency tag.

More like this

Nope. Like naming a mob "Dinnerbone", "jeb_" is an easter egg from the devs, and not something I can control. It reverts to a normal colour when unnamed, nothing I can do about that.

Do they retain the persistent tag after having the name removed?

That's a good question, and something I hadn't even though about. I just checked and yes, the persistent tag remains after being unnamed. Is this something you would want kept or removed?

I'm thinking it's best to remove persistence since it is supposed to be being "reverted" back to normal.

I like the idea of being able to create persistent nameless mobs. Both for pranks, or just ambient critters.

The floating name tag can be distracting in a decorative scene.

Perhaps there's a way to do a "_nameless" tag as well. Your original tags revert, whilst the "_nameless" removes nametag, but places persistent tag.

Although, I was just talking to my wife about it, and if the player wanted the mob to despawn, they probably would kill it rather than spending another nametag on it.

I like how you have it, but it makes sense to revert, too. This data pack is your baby, you gotta decide how you want it to grow up. :)
