The first spawn will be in the Nether.

The "Netherspawn" point is marked with crying obsidian
There may sometime be a pillar of obsidian remaining from the portal next to you, sometimes not,
but there will never be a full portal to the overworld.

This pack should apply to all players and works by creating and destroying small "portals" in the overworld spawn chunk.
Be aware of this ^ for above-ground blocks (like leaves and slabs) in the spawn chunk of multiplayer servers.
Please let me know how this works in multiplayer if you want to test it. *I tested this for single-player.

Hardcore is a lot of fun, complementary to my other packs.

Good luck!

Thanks! Yeah, this was born out of an intense frustration that nothing even relatively similar existed for even just testing purposes. I was really just trying to find something to speed up the testing process for my more complex packs, but this turned out to be something cool for challanges like Hardcore or just normal gameplay (dying in the nether on your first life before getting back to the overworld means you need to get back to the nether from the overworld LOL).

I'm happy you enjoy it. I tried to keep it light-weight too, but honestly that's mostly because I'm lazy. I looked into making a datapack that can respawn you into the nether every time, but that is bound to be much more complex and exposed to bugs.
