Since the manterials needed are so expensive with good mobs, they are meant for end-game purposes, like changing a spawner type.

Yes, but at the same time nowdays its easy to make a nether star farm so why not put a netherstar instead of an egg; this stablizes the 'cheaty' part of adding spawn eggs. In addition to this, you could also add more spawn eggs. If you want I can help you design 'vanilla' friendly recipes.
