You can now sleep without setting your spawnpoint (doesnt work with thunderstorms).
do /trigger pillow.craft to get the recipe in your recipe book.

The item is onetime use (by default) but can be changed using /function pillow:settings (this sometimes creates ghost items, but you can just click on the slot and it will be back).
The item is a feather with an enchanting glint and takes 5 seconds to use.

This is my first datapack so i hope you enjoy!

Also new update: before the datapack would set the One time use variable when starting the world, which would mean one would have to change it in the settings every time. I have now fixed that problem.

Since this datapack allows a player to essentially skip the night by running the "set time" command, then it doesn't really block or prevent the player from using a bed. I think the goal here is for a player to have a bed and a spawnpoint associated with that bed. Then when that player is out exploring far from their bed, they can skip the night without losing their main spawnpoint. I am not really sure what the main objective is here. Who would use this ? Perhaps this is for players that want the safety and comfort of a bed and spawnpoint, and also want to explore, but that same player is either afraid of mobs, or afraid of the night, so they don't want to die prematurely and end up back at their bed. I think a better solution here is for the player to stay awake all night and fight mobs and get better at fighting. Practice makes perfect. Or perhaps this is only related to Phantoms. In that case, just disable them with the gamerule at world generation. Vibe coding, ftw !

The original idea came from a problem i had on an smp, where i had a bed in my base and the endportal would be the only option to access it. As such setting my spawnpopint would mean losing my base, but since i do not want to build a mob switch i didn't get to skip the night unless i went to my base. Also i saw a sleeping bag mod on youtube, with the same idea so i wanted to make it myself.

This looks promising, and I will be looking at this one more closely to see how you managed to achieve this result. My datapack uses a similar mechanic, but instead the player is dumped onto a random world coordinate after dying.

this datapack is quite complex and also a bit convoluted in its execution. Very good job on your "first" datapack. I know the routine...

thank you very much. I have a lot of experience building commandblock machines but they were way to laggy. Everything i learnt about datapacks was like one youtube video so that's propably why..

I remember the very first version of my design idea. It used recursive command blocks that were "riding" each other and were spawned in as falling sand entities. They would then execute the version 0.00 commands in my Nomadic Realms datapack ( see the changelog). I am still working on mine, and will tackle the huge task of adding Advancements and hints for the player to gently teach them about the new gameplay rules in my pack.

Here's that original post about using command blocks:
