This is a resubmission of the old version of this project that was still marked as a Map in PlanetMinecraft.

What are spreadable crops?
This datapack enables crops to spread naturally. This includes wheat, carrots, potatoes, pumpkins, melons, beetroots, and nether warts. When a crop spreads, smoke particles emit at the new plant. You can also tell if your farm contains a crop that can spread if you see the green particles occasionally, as shown in the pictures above. In order for crops to spread, they have to have an eligible block nearby such as empty farmland, dirt, or grass blocks. Crops will only spread when once they are fully grown.

Why can't I find any spreadable crops in my field?
Crops can only spread after placing new seeds of any of the listed types from above.

Why don't crops always spread when they emit smoke?
When a crop can spread, it only ever has the potential to spread. After 5 minutes, the spreading will either:
  • Not occur at all causing the crop to no longer spread again
  • Spread to a new crop that can also spread and cause...
    - The old crop to no longer spread
    - The old crop to retain its spreading ability

Note that crops still may not necessarily spread all the time if there are no eligible positions at which the crop can spawn. Be sure to verify that there are plenty of empty spaces for crops to spread.

Are there any differences in how nether warts spread?
Yes. Nether warts cannot spread to farmland, dirt, or grass blocks like the other crops. Instead, they require soul sand below them. Like the others however, if they are able to randomly select a nearby position where they can spread to, the crop will spread to that position.

Is there anything else I should know about crop spreading?
Crops spread using the spreadplayers command. This means that spreading has no vertical limit, which is an issue I have not yet addressed. This means that if you want to limit how far crops can spread, you should not build anything above your farm and should build around the farm with blocks that do not encourage spreading.

Uninstall the Datapack
To remove the datapack from your world, run the command below:
/function classyelm_crop_spreading:uninstall
To complete the removal process, delete the datapack folder from your world folder.

If you have any questions about the datapack, feel free to ask them in the comments below!
