Ever wanted to acquire spawn eggs or craft spawners in survival? It's not for everyone, as it can break game balance, ergo "forbidden". But if you want more challenge than `/give`, but want to build interesting and novel challenges, XP farms, and trial chambers, this is the one for you!

    Spawners

Spawners can be crafted from a waxed oxidized copper grate, a waxed oxidized trapdoor, and an ender star. To make it a trial spawner, add an observer. This recipe is fairly challenging, as it should be.

    Spawn Eggs

Spawn eggs are made from an egg, three lapis lazuli, and two or three items specific to the spawn egg. We didn't document the recipes, so there's an additional bit of discovery.

The one example we'll give is the Creeper: an egg, three lapis lazuli, a short grass, and a gunpowder.

To figure out the recipes, consider what the mob eats, drops, and where it spawns. Some recipes require part of the mob itself, while at least one requires a different spawn egg.

Obviously, you could just cheat and look at the data pack source code, or give yourself the recipes, but where's the fun in that?

    1 Update Logs

    The Golem Update (v2.0) for Minecraft 1.21.11 : by codemouse92 12/21/2025 2:03:21 pmDecember 21, 2025 @ 7:03 pm UTC

This release adds support for all the goodies added in Minecraft's 2025 game drops. Due to my own time being limited, I'm only supporting Mounts of Mayhem (21.11) with this version.

    Golem Recipes

With the addition of the Copper Golem, I caved and added support for crafting both Iron Golem and Copper Golem spawn eggs.

    Nautilus and Reworked Dolphin

With the addition of the Nautilus and Zombie Nautilus spawn eggs, I also had to rework the Dolphin spawn egg...so if you already know that one, you now don't. 😉

Hint for you dolphin lovers: the new recipe has less to do with an associated item, and more to do with one of the reasons you'd hang out with these critters.

    Other Changes

    * Added Parched, in the vein of other skeleton spawn eggs.
    * Added Husk Camel, in the vein of the regular camel spawn egg.
    * Added the Happy Ghast spawn egg. It's rather different from Ghast, and maybe a touch prosaic?
