I made this pretty simple datapack that adds thirst to minecraft! This is actually part of a MUCH bigger datapack that i am working on called Hakota's Vanilla Enhancements so stay tuned i suppose.

Thirst:

As soon as you launch the game you will have a thirst bar that goes down. You can replenish it by drinking water, potions, or eating juicy foods such as melons. Bottling water from random lakes and puddles now results in dirty water as it should, it can be cleaned with a charcoal filter, which crafted shapeless in a crafting table using one sugarcane and one charcoal. Throw a charcoal filter on the ground along with a bottle of dirty water and you will get clean water.

The resource pack is not ENTIRELY necessary but be warned that without it you will never know when you are running out of thirst
