    Nyctophobia


    The fear of the dark, enter a world just like the one you knew before, with one core difference. You might notice some strange sounds in the caves, an uneasy feeling in the dark. Hearing things, maybe even, breathing?

    This datapack adds a mysterious new monster that will stalk you in the dark, stay too long and it will attack. The creature will try its best to avoid you seeing its body, it will disappear when you get night vision, and when it enters light

    As soon as you enter your world you will be plagued with TRUE darkness. Light level 0 is now pitch black, giving the creature a perfect home.

    Be careful out there...

    Remember to set your difficulty when you join! Explanation inside of commands drop list

    Recommended Settings


    Brightness - Low (Somewhere around 25 - 50)

    📠 Commands:



    Set Difficulty: /function nycto:difficulty/(difficulty)



    Give Creature: /function nycto:grue/give

    💀 Difficulties:



    Easy - Creature takes longer to arrive

    Normal (Recommended) - Creature takes normal time to arrive

    Hard - Creature arrives sooner than normal. Give you slowness upon arrival

    This is a very good data pack BUTT it's even better with the

    LIMBO dimension Data pack

    This would be a great creepy pasta survival gameplay.

    I like the idea of this. I got the datapack and set it to easy. you go into any kind of enclosed and dark space and within 30 seconds the screen goes black and another 30 seconds you are dead. i am unsure if it is working correctly. I would have thought people would be able to spot it. I would like if it was sometimes visible briefly. like if within idunno 2 hours in a mine you maybe see it. just so it is scary. something that just instantly kills you and you didnt even see what is more confusing than scary. it said Unknown killed me. I think that is from this pack, i apologize if it is not, im trying to put a set of packs together for a new playthrough.

    edit: also kind of the message saying something is there makes it less scary. because that is basically only done by mods and datapacks. I kind of expected this to be more urban legend kind of a thing. like" oh i saw something" or "i was in the mines and something attacked me. obviously yea it can kill you, but if it happens this fast, and the only reason you know a monster did it is because of text warning you 30 seconds before, idunno..

    my main main thing is that it happens way too fast. i tried easy and normal. dont want to be mean. but that seems really really really fast. like too fast to be scared. not even that but too consistent. i went 4 times in easy and 3 times in normal into a cave. and consistently bascially immediately it showed up and killed me.

    ... Is yours glitching? Its supposed to take like 30 seconds. If its appearing right when you enter the dark it might not be registering you in the game and therefore automatically summoning the creature. Ill take a look

    30 secinds seems about correct. that time being so short, and so consistent makes it not scary i think.
