There's a bug that occurs when you're about to throw any block, if you scroll to the next hotbar slot, the item in THAT slot is thrown instead; If there is no item it becomes a barrier block, which is TERRIBLE for survival, if there IS an item it becomes a block of sand instead

You didn't mention it but a lot of "item" blocks actually just turn into sand as well, resulting in losing that item as well. I think an easy fix is just making sure that the item is a block, and if you are throwing an empty item, it results with just placing air blocks.
