sorry i cant guarantee this still works - 2024
update eventually?
This is Minecraft: Death-Swap. Every 5 minutes, you're randomly swapped with someone on the map. Your goal is to set-up traps and figure out ways to kill your opponents without direct PvP. The last player standing wins. As the game progresses, the interval's timer will gradually decrease - upping the intensity to find out who the winner is.
While not tested above 7, theoretically an unlimited amount of players are supported.
If you see that you have been swapped with multiple people in chat, i'm working on it - fix coming soon hopefully.
INSTRUCTIONS
- Download the datapack .zip file and save it somewhere
- In Minecraft, create a new world then press Data Packs
- Drag the file you saved earlier into this now opened folder
- Then click the > arrow to enable the pack, ignore any version errors
Now the pack is installed, there is a simple process to start the game:
- Either host the server or load up the world on Minecraft Realms
- Once you're ready, run /function ds:start and let the games begin!
- This will put the game in the grace period, after 5 minutes the swap timer will begin.
- When there is one minute left until swapping, a warning is displayed in chat.
- A 5 second countdown will then occur before everyone is swapped.
To change the swap interval, run /scoreboard players set interval global [amount] - the amount is set in seconds.
IMPORTANT: If you run into any issues whatsoever, contact me via PMC or by email - i've not had the chance to test the latest update.

once the datapack is installed, get everyone on and you can run /function ds:start and you'll be in survival mode.
you can see in my video for a short amount of time we are in this same pre-game period before the game starts.
for the fall damage, we decided as a group to disable fall damage by default but you can easily re enable that with the game rule “fallDamage”, /gamerule fallDamage true
as for no countdown on swapping,
- how many players were there
- and was there never a countdown at any point?
