Unfortunately, in vanilla you have to wait for amethyst shards to grow on budding amethyst blocks. With this datapack you can grab the amethyst blocks on the walls, and turn them into amethyst shards yourself! And if you set up a sort of amethyst farm, you can craft amethyst shards into amethyst blocks too.
