Vanilla Pings

To use this pack, you should simply have to install it like any other datapack! Snowballs act as pings in this datapack; you must be crouched for it to work! When you are crouched with a snowball, you can throw it to create a waypoint. Waypoints/pings will last for ten seconds. You can also drop any snowball while crouched in order to change the color of your waypoint. Due to limitations on how Minecraft works, pings can only be around 100 blocks away. Additionally, you cannot place pings right next to yourself or other players, as an entity has to be spawned in order to display the ping. I hope you enjoy!!!

Known Issues:
- Sometimes pings that are right on the brink of mob despawning (128 blocks) will not despawn. In order to despawn if it is stuck, you have to go within ~30 blocks of the ping.
- The ping can't make it through tall grass, water, glass, cobweb, snow, etc. and will sometimes get caught up on weird blocks where it seems like it shouldn't (especially at close range). (fixed in new version)
- Collecting snowballs while crouched changes your color extremely quickly. (fixed in new version)
- Doesn't work on some paper servers due to max entity distance being different.
- I am certain that there is some way to accidentally break this in multiplayer. Let me know if you find any!!!!!!!

Guide:
0. Install the datapack.
1. Collect a snowball, or two.
2. Crouch.
3. Aim and throw the snowball to place a waypoint up to 100 blocks away!

Configuration:
- The functionality can be completely disabled for specific (annoying?) players. To do so, run /tag player_name add pingpack_disabled
- You can also turn off the chat features, such as error messages and misc. info by running /tag @p add pingpack_chat_updates_disabled
- Currently, there is no way to configure the pack without cheats. Expect a /trigger or some other method at some point.

I made this pack for fun, and would love for it to be well-polished and more user-friendly. If you have any ideas, COMMENT THEM! I will try to update asap. Let me know also if there are any versions in 1.13 to 1.19.3 that run into issues, and I will try to fix them. Thanks for the support!!!!!

Changes:
First update:
- Fixed snowball collection in survival causing your color to change; now you have to drop the snowballs as intended.
- Pings are now closer to where your crosshair is, instead of slightly below.
- You can now ping through the following blocks: snow layers, grass/tall grass, vines, flowers, crops, glass blocks, and glass panes.
- If you are underwater, your pings can now travel through most ocean water blocks. If you are above water, your ping will stay to the surface.
