The features in this datapack has been merged into my new datapack, THEFT. Please download this instead if you want the latest features and updates.

This is a datapack that lets you take items out of villagers' inventories via a hopper or hopper minecart. All you have to do is just put a hopper or hopper minecart below a bed and let the villager sleep on it. It'll instantly take everything out and put them in the hopper. Naming a villager "keep" will stop the hoppers from taking items out of them.

Download the villager farm demoststration map I made and used in my video.

Okay, this is hilarious. I love when people come up with silly ideas that are also great.

Any chance you could create a data pack to "upgrade" a hoppers vertical range to be the same as that of a mine cart? Would certainly simplify some of my autofarms not needing a rail and hoppercart just get get thru a dirt block. I'm sure a new recipe could balance it out some. I've run across plenty of mods that improve speed, which is nice, but it's that grabbing thru over head layers that is really missing to make hoppers better. As I view hopper charts useful for large builds, in which cast they are cheaper than lines of slow hoppers, which always surprised me that things were set up that way.

You can place hopper/hopper minecart 1 block below the placement I showed in the trailer. allowing you to hide the ugly blocks and hoppers with any block.

Sorta figured that bit, just curious if you know it was possible to improve hoppers with data packs and my rationale as to why. Thanks.

For some reason it is not working on my SMP, does it work on servers?

I haven't tested on multiplayer yet, but considering that there's nothing to do with players, it should have no issues. Did you put the hopper below the bottom part of the bed?

Yes, I did set it up as intended, but that was not the problem. I just found out that it wasn't working because I had the mobGriefing gamerule set to false on the server, so my villager couldn't even break the crops, so he had nothing in his inventory. I set the gamerule to true and now it is working perfectly. Sorry for my stupidity and thanks for this super useful datapack.
