Story
In the Death Note anime there are Shinigami, or Death Gods, they decide when people die in the human world, they have Shinigami eyes that allow them to see humans real names and how long they have left to live. When they kill a human they gain however many years they have left to their own life, they kill humans by writing their names in their Death Notes, they can right how and when they will die. The Death Notes however have rules.
1.The human whose name is written in this note shall die.
2.This note will not take effect unless the writer has the person’s face in their mind when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
3.If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds of writing the person’s name, it will happen.
4.If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack.
5.After writing the cause of death, details of the death should be written in the next 6 minutes and 40 seconds.
6.The notebook shall become the property of the human world, once it touches the ground of (arrives in) the human world.
7.The owner of the note can recognize the image and voice of the original owner, i.e. a god of death/shinigami.
8.The human who uses the notebook can neither go to Heaven nor Hell.
9.If the time of death is written within 40 seconds after writing the cause of death as a heart attack, the time of death can be manipulated, and the time can go into effect within 40 seconds after writing the name.
10.The human who touches the Death Note can recognize the image and voice of its original owner, a Shinigami, even if the human is not the owner of the note.
These are merely some of the rules, telling you all of them would be no fun.
Shinigami that get bored often drop their or a spare Death Note into the human world to see what will happen, Another thing there is a rule that says there can only be 4 death notes in the human world at one time but I'm ignoring that one, also if you give up the death note then all your memories of it and the things you did with it are erased. Also shinigami have to follow the human who holds their note, they can also give the human that can see them shinigami eyes that work the same way as the actual Shinigami's but this comes at the cost of half your life.

Story

Backstory: ((Time for epicness)) Dahg was born and raised normally, Going to school, Making friends, And everything till he was seven. He suddenly woke up in front of a volcano, He thought it was a dream and he walked to it and saw a notebook, He picked it up and fainted from the heat. He woke up back in his bed with the notebook still. A month later his brother was captured. He is on a quest to get his brother no matter what. His parents abandoned him when he got the notebook though. Every now and then a thing appears to him... The notebook owner.
What they plan to do with the power of the note. He plans to use it to get his brother back

Luke he means by nite the death note. If you write in it someones name and way of death (can be left blank for a heart attack) they die.
Someone holding the note can half there life in order to obtain the eyes of a shinigami and see someones life length and full name.
