As Dragil said above posing can add a whole lot more to a render. Also try searching for a light room for C4D I currently use PresGraphics' which adds some amazing lighting. I have no idea what rig you're using but if you can try and get a hold of the FMR rig as it has a whole lot of features you can use

Here are some rough renders I did using the light room and rig:

The Light Room: https://sellfy.com/p/3Ktc/ (It's currently free)

The render it self is pretty terrible... I advise you to learn posing. Its the most important thing, since you get a more realistic feel to it. Congrats on learning though

I'm assuming you're using blender, so you probably can't extrude layers. But if you are using C4D i will get into that later.

The eyebrows overlaying the hair is a bit weird of a look, and the mouth is up high. (In your latest render)

I suppose it is a good start for beginning rendering though, good job.

add a sky object and put a material with a skymap (a .png or a selfmade gradient) on it

Ah. I use Blender, so I don't really know anything about that. However, if there's an ambient occlusion lighting setting, I'd turn that on for outdoor settings. It make the lighting look a bit better.

There is an ambient occlusion lightning setting in Cinema4D I'll make sure to turn it on the next time I make a render.

Thanks for the tip!
