Or if you want to use your imagination, build something from a book that doesnt have a movie to go with it, giving you guidance to build something but not pinning you down.
yup especially the last part!
for example someone made the labyrinth of the shrike ... i read the book it's from too and i just imagined everything completely different. so if i wasn't as lazy as i am i could make another labyrinth ^^
and you don't have to be super unique all the time ... i learned to build by copying others designs and giving them a personal touch
I agree with poncharelli's initial statement, only not the way he backs it up. he goes for replicas of real life things, but replicating that just doesnt sound fun to me.

The1Kwa1JsucshNearly everything has been done or thought of before. What I do, is I just build. For example, if someone built a castle, and I want to build a castle, I will build my own castle. As long as you do not copy block for block, or steal patterns/designs, it is your own unique idea. Everyone's mind is different, therefore if you build with what you like and want, it will be unique and different. Not to sound argumentative or disrespectful but nowhere near everything has been done in Minecraft. There are so many things that people miss out on that its still exciting to build. Actually now coming up with the new things to build is just as respectable as building them. I don't want to give away any major secrets cause I am building things like what we're talking about right now on my server, but examples of things that are either never done before or not that many people are doing it and can easily be improved.....
Things like:
A perfect map replica of planet earth. (someone tried but it has major flaws like giant chunks missing and sealevel raised 30 blocks high halfway in the middle of the pacific ocean and the entire map is rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise and doesn't look good in the minimap. It would be nice to see a better perfect world map.
Also, so many of the world's landmarks haven't been done yet. I haven't seen the St. St. Basils Cathedral in Russia, or lots of cool buildings from Chinas' big ciites or tons of American landmarks or anywhere around the world for that matter.....
I haven't seen a real life replica of Mojang studios or even an attempt at that. I also haven't seen alot of things, so dont give up hope guys cause there are tons of things to build! Things from our world and imaginary things that you will come up with in the future!

I am pretty sure not copying block for block is already given. We refuse to build anything in absolutely the same way as a builder. No creativity, No true builder quality.
