Firstly, I'd like to say welcome!
In this guide, you will be learning a lot about making the ultimate base in your mineworld. While some people may disagree with this guide, I think the rest would learn something new from this guide. So let's get at it!

When you first enter minecraft, you'll find the game quite hard. Don't hesitate to change the difficulty to peaceful for a while. To be honest, my computer lags so bad, I have to play on peaceful, and this must be what? My fourteenth world?

Part 1: The true essentials

Congratulations, now that you know how to officially play Minecraft, let's celebrate by finding a cave! No, this isn't to mock everything you've done, rather it's quite logical. By finding a good cave system, you will have a pre-built shelter, which can normally be close to y = 10.6. Mark this location, place a bed here, and deposit everything but an axe into a chest. Cut down at least 100 logs, collect as many saplings as you can, and get at least 50 seeds. This may take a while, but it's crucial to save time. Now head back to your cave, and mine some cobblestone/dig up some dirt, and cover up the entrance, leaving a 1x2 area for the door. Also, explore as far as you can, and repeat, making the 1x2 door and sealing off the rest. Finally, try to get some water to flow down your cave, and making a good wheat farm around that water.
You must be tired, give yourself a break, as the next part will definitely take a while...

Now that you are here, dedicate 10 minutes to looking for only coal. If unable to find any, then convert 75 of your logs into planks, and burn the rest into charcoal. Oh, and make at least 5 furnaces, and 3 full chests. I know that following this guide is quite boring at the moment, but don't start doubting this. Reason being; you'll start having (endless) fun after the next part (part 3). Mine a shaft down to y = 10, or explore the cave, your choice. If the latter, try to cover the entire place with as much light as possible. After, mine to y = 10. Start mining long shafts, until you either have
a) 2 full double chests filled with cobble
or
b) Half a stack of diamonds, 2 stacks of iron ingots, and 1 stack of gold, with a couple of red stone stacks.
If you are having bad luck and get only to a, just skip to part 3. If you got a decent yield (b), then follow up. Make two diamond pick axes, 1 diamond sword, 1 diamond axe, and 2 iron equivalents for everything mentioned (excluding picks. Only make 2 iron picks, instead of 4), and make a full set of iron armour. If you haven't already, map out the cave, and continue to part 3!

OMG! OMG! We'll actually see the daylight! Come outside with 3 wheat, a quarter of your loaf of bread, but first! Make a massive box inside your cave with fences, and make ONE fence gate! Now that you are outside, start searching and luring (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aavukZyr63A) the following, and remember; more is better.
2 Cows
2 Chickens or 32 eggs
2 Sheep
2 Pigs
Now that you've found and lured these animals, night should have already come out. Feed all the animals wheat to make them breed, and come out with a diamond sword, all your armour, and plenty of bread, and let's start hunting.
You'll need to actively hunt skeletons, creepers, spiders, and collecting their drops.
Skeletons - We need to get their bones in order to help capture wolves. As well, the free arrows and occasional bow don't hurt.
Creepers - This could, and is recommended to be hunted in the day. Exercise extra caution, only sprinting and attacked, and back. Sprinting, and attacking, and back. We need their sulfur to make TNT.
Spiders - We really need to collect a ton of string, and spider eyes. The string is used to make bows and fishing rods, the latter more valued atm, and for brewing poison potions.
Once you've hunted down these guys, do whatever the hell you want to do. I'd personally recommend doing more caving, or finding obsidian. The best way to obtaining obsidian is a little expensive, but it is far faster then the standard looking for lava, cooling it with water, and mining with a diamond pickaxe. For this however, you'll need to dig a trench 5 (or 7) x 3, and get 10 (or 14) redstone. Dig one side of the trench (width/shorter side) down 2 blocks. In the middle row (the shorter side row), dig down 3 blocks, and at the top layer of it, put back the row of blocks. Finally, on the last side, copy the 1st side. Put water along the edges of the middle row blocks on one side, and at the other; put redstone all over the bottom of that side. Now let lava pour down that side, and watch as the redstone turns into obsidian.
