Hi everyone this is my first ever map that I've made by myself.
I've had a private server going since alpha but recently I've decided to work on a brand new project.
So first of all I got WorldPainter and found a height map of Monaco I had to do a lot of editing with the map to get it as accurate as possible and the elevations right as well. Once I was happy with the geography of the map it was time to build Monaco.
One of the main driving forces of this project is because of the street circuit that goes through Monaco where Formula 1 race every year. First thing was to build the track and get its elevation correct.
Once that was done the track got widened with kerbs being added. I also placed the pit lane and garages as well.
The next step was a huge one I added in buildings a hotel and the swimming pool each of these buildings are all based on the real life ones and even have the same names. I used McEdit to place boats in the bay thanks to someone for giving away boats (In the map each boat has their name on it as credit like they asked).
So the last few days I built 4 more shops, public toilets, 2 cafe's, 1 park and 2 apartment buildings. In the picture below is the latest one of the map I'm on top of a new apartment building that I'm making and I'm going to have to build another 8 of these at least so that will take a while.
This project isn't even 20% complete yet it still has a long way to go until it's finished it's going to be entirely built up and yes every building will be fully decorated.
I'm looking forward to building the tunnel on this map in real life a hotel sits on top of the tunnel and beside the track I think it could come out really great.
I also am thinking of turning it into a server when it's finished for anyone to visit.

A year has gone by with little or no work in this simply because I don't have as much time as before. Thanks to the Christmas holidays I've got a bit more time to get this going again. I have decided that I won't be making a server with this I will be letting you all download it on here When will it be finished? Hopefully in the early part of 2015. For now here's some pictures I just took with a shader mod,
The bay hasn't seen much changes the buildings the in background though have been added and worked on,
The other side hasn't seen many changes either but I will add more buildings and some detail,
At the very top of the map some work has been done. Some boats added along with a house. More houses will be put around the map.
One of the best places to chill out in this pool and the small hut in the distance leads to a underground sauna this map is full of small little surprises.
The buildings at the back as you can see are unfinished I will make more of them and each of them will be fully furnished.
Moving towards the bottom of the map some boats have been added. This patch of land will have a stadium when its finished.

A lot more work has continued with this project. Recently the mall that contains 16 shops has been completed along with a indoor and outdoor large public swimming pool and a tennis court as well.

Another short update not much progress lately but I plan to work on this again next month.
Nice idea! It looks amazing! You should install a car mod when your done and then you should have a race with your friends. (but not 78 laps, just 3 or 4)

Make sure to tell us the Ip when its ready. And what shader are you using? It looks fantastic.

Is this on a server or will this be a downloadable map?
At the moment I plan for it to be a map to run on a server all the time with all the mods running as well in order for everything to work. But if people like it enough once its all done I'll consider uploading the file to this site for anyone to download
Progress is going well more buildings have been added and the map has plenty of roads on it now but still needs a lot more work done. I have also started to build a website for the map it should be finished soon.
Here's a list of some of the things you will be able to do once the map is finished and is running on a server,
Boats - There are cruise ships and large yachts for you to explore and visit some are even for sale. If you own a yacht you can host and invite people to have a party or another event.
Beaches - There are two large ones on the map on the North and South side they come with swimming pools, chairs and changing rooms. No one can own a beach they are open for everyone. From time to time there will be parties that award players prizes.
Road System - The whole map is connected by a huge road network, the server has a mod to allow you to drive cars on the roads.
Underground Train - The train helps you get to some parts of the map in a matter of seconds and its free to use for anyone.
Apartments - In the crowded areas of Monaco it is full of apartments some are old fashioned and some modern people will be allowed to buy them or rent.
Modern Homes - They are situated on a less busy and less crowded area of the map they come with great views and are very private. People will be allowed to buy or rent.
Restaurants - There are many scattered through out the map.
Cinemas - There are a few to visit.
Theatres - There is a large one where a lot of plays and acts can be done. Players will be allowed to put on plays and invite people to come and watch.
Casino - One large casino to visit. Win large in game money prizes or lose money depending on your luck.
Stadiums - There is a hockey and football stadium where players can play games.
PVP arenas - A place for people to play against each other through fights, battles and play games.
Fast Food Restaurants - Scatted through out the map.
Go Kart Tracks - A place where you can drive on mini tracks and race other people and get awarded prizes.
Airport - Although Monaco doesn't actually have one there is a small airport.
Secret Area's - There are up to 10 area's through out the map that are hidden if a player finds them they will find a chest of food, in game money and other stuff this is to award people for exploring the huge map.

What will be raced here? Pigs, people? Horses? Vehicle mods?
I plan to eventually let people race around the track or at least drive around it probably with a vehicle mod.
Can't wait, looks awesome. With the detail put into it, it would make a cool survival map

I know the monaco track well. it is looking good. Maybe a video of a lap maybe, would be nice to see?

Good point will get a train system built into the map to make travelling around easy and quick.

Do you mean a train to travel about the map in or a train track on the track? I'm thinking of adding both to the map later maybe a underground train system and a train on the track to give people a idea and feel of the racing.

Monaco doesn't have a volcano but I will need some background scenery and may add in one.
