ProBooooiiiSquares are boring and used waaaaay to often.It is minecraft .
Seriously though if you made it rounded or muli-tiered, then made some monster proof areas out side the main arena, maybe with XP shops or something. Also putting spawners direcly underground is good, but hanging them from the ceiling is terrifying. SPIDERS ARE FALLING ON ME AAAAHAAHHHHAAaahhaAHAHHA!1!!!!

Add some depth to the walls to make it look more attractive. Then add some obstacles. A nice idea would be to section off areas of the arena, and make organic biomes. So you could have a grassy area in one section, with trees, a pond and one area with sand and an oasis/desert temple.

Stuff you need to change:
1.Put spawners below the ground
2.add more structures in the big plain box
3.add some settings for multiplayer
4.put a goal/challenge list for the map

about the settings: use commandblocks so people can choose between easy/medium/hard mode. on easy mobs do less damage than on medium and hard, on medium more than on aesy but less than hard etc. + maybe try and add a reason for doing this. Are you took prison and forced to fight, and they will only let you live when you win? Are you doing it for a huge price?
