Bacon Machine help

Ok, so assuming I was able to get a pig spawner, how could I use that to make a mobspawner that kills pigs? I have tried making a slightly different version of a regular spawner but the pigs don't fall into the water as easily as a regular mob will for some reason. Does anyone have any suggestions?
