How to implement incrementation?

This is my way of doing it. It takes ~3 seconds to load and increment an 8-bit number.
Is there a faster/more compact incrementer?

Actually, you can add any amount of numbers with a slight modification.
If you poke different bits of the ripple counter, you can add any power of 2. If you poke the leftmost bit, you add 1, the next one — you add 2, and so on. Therefore, you can add any number to the contents of the counter by adding every bit of every number in series like this:

This device can add two 4-bit numbers in ~2.3 seconds. It spends most of the time resetting the counter, though.
