Hello guys,
in this topic I would like to show you a working 3D scanner which I built together with my brother PsychoGear.
The scanner is able to scan complex 3D objects with the dimension of 8x8x8 blocks and to save them as electronic informations in a hard drive.
All blocks of the 3D object must be movable and shall be put under power. The remaining voids around the
3D object must be filled with glass.
The scanner divide the 3D object into individual lines, which will be read and displayed immediately on an 8x8 pixel wide display. After the lines have been scanned, they will be reassembled in the assembly station.
The user can start and reset the scanner at every time of the scanning process, and he can set the scanner into sleep mode or wake him up. The user is able to switch between all layers of the current and saved scan progress, and 1 minute after he changed the last time the layer, the display will jump back to the current layer of the scanning progress.
I think this are all information about this creation, i have here a video to show how it works:
Thank you for your interest.
Write your questions about the scanner in a comment under my topic, i will answer as soon as possible.

wow just to think that this was done by actual people... wait...
ARE YOU EVEN PEOPLE???
We are
Dang, you got us!
Alright alright, we're highly advanced Aondroids, programmed to spend our time playing minecraft to develope new redstone based technologies for a secret
establishment called "Area 21.5"....
But please don't tell this to anyone else, ok?:D
But seriously, this was actually not THAT hard to invent. The building part was quite tricky because it involves a lot of precise timing, but the rest is just a pretty simple concept of moving blocks and saving data. Overall the most frustrating part was to get the timings right while the game created randomly occuring errors because it was completely overloaded with all the processes working together...
For instance, when my brother hosts the server, everything goes well. But as soon as I enter the world, the scanner won't necessarily work properly anymore.
I can't think of any oher explanation for this than that the server just can't handle it correctly.
