When people talk about Redstone computers, what do they mean?
well it all depends on topic of the redstone device it could just be a a monitor that prints images currently we are working on the smallest tv we just have to sort out timings but computers basically compute information given so like if you hit a button it switches the images or starts the slide show do you kinda understand if you want any video done on redstone just subscribe to this channel I will give you a link tell me on planetminecraft or on youtube in any of my redstone related videos
Redstone computer specifically refers to that small sub-set of Redstone devices which process information by performing arithmetic and/or logical operations upon digital information storage blocks which are accessed by an indexed reference.
As wolfcraft12 mentioned; most projects which include the tag 'Redstone computer' will not contain a working processor and will instead just be a conglomeration of peripheral components.
Fake Computers look like this

Real turing-complete Computers are extremely rare and look more like this...

Hello there, Can anyone solve my problem? I'm trying to do a redstone setup that has a 30 second or more timer on it that keeps the a line of redstone active until the timer runs out. now to do this, it needs to be activated by a button, and do exactly what i said. now i'v gotten close, but get shot down every time i try for the timer. if you have more questions on my problem, feel free to ask. i'd greatly appreciate the help
Place a T Flip Flop. Set the time to 30 seconds (75 4-Tick Repeaters) before feeding back into the input. It should look something like: (T Flip Flop that

______P^_______ T
B=Button
W=Wall/Any Block
R=Redstone Dust
P(Arrow)=Sticky Piston, arrow indicates head direction
Re=Repeater (1 Tick)
T=Redstone Torch
_=Empty Space to counter the forum's line alignment.
If you need help understanding, let me know and I'll try to explain it better.

Idk redstone ab gates?

Your redstone wire would be hooked up to a NOT gate (redstone torch), and the torch would be turned off by the timer output.
For the timer itself, you could just use an insane amount of repeaters, or use two hoppers with one powered to make a timer. Search the interwebz, there will be designs on there. The button would be hooked up to the line of repeaters, or the hoppers, or whatever timer design you choose.
