I have some redstone ideas of my own (although I am not very good at very complicated redstone devices).
But as anyone, I think Mojang should add new redstone stuff to minecraft. The hopper/dropper system is fun, and lightsensors are too. But can we think of more?
Can you think of things that should be added to minecraft?
(Like vertical redstone etc.)

upside down hoppers arent neccecary. droppers can already transfer blocks upwards and into chests.
I just want Redstone to be implemented using a deterministic Cellular Automata !!!
Current it's implemented using hash-accessed associative command buffers, and that's the cause of almost all our engineering grief.
Devices acting irratic, or random, or dependent on direction or location, or dependent on the player or on the time-since login... the way short falling edge signals are lost and the reason pistons are laggy broken boxes of glitch... all because Notch implemented a poor underlying system of Redstone updates.

If you want vertical redstone get the Redpower mod. I use it for the frames/frame motors, which are the only thing that I would ask for to be added to redstone.
And daylight sensors should evenly distribute their timings over 12 units, instead of its current 15, so that the time values for when a daylight sensor gives more/less power would be easily divisible numbers, like at 2000 ticks, 3000, 4000, etc
Redstone can be placed under half slab gaps. And redstone lamps should fix their timings, because they light up longer than the signal its given.

Yeah. It would cut the sizes by a lot. I can think of about 5 devices that would become useless if there were vertical redstone though. And im a modder, and it would add a LOT into the code just for vertical redstone with the current minecraft version with all the new redstone stuff.

No. No vertical redstone. Thats against the rules They should add support so that hoppers can also be placed upside down so they could go up too and not just down.
i wouldn't mind redstone being able to be placed on the underside of blocks
They already can. Just place a block above where you want to put the hopper and then place the hopper onto that.
