most colorfulness diffrent
I like to use MCskin3D, Here u can use the shade tool that looks like a half moon, to shade. U can those between different scale, like 10%-100% darker colors. Or 10%-100% lighter coloring. Works good and is what i use. If u like a look on how it will look like, u can take a look on my side.
-KasoxD And Out !
U can fine MCskin3D by search it on this side or google

shading is good, and so is just texturing. Use the spray paint tool, and use something like 5-15% transparency, and black is it's a lighter color, or a grey if it's a darker color. this adds a bit of texture, and can be sued for shading.
I agree with BluCooler try working on your skin designs first then move on to shading
cmums11Hey guys cmums11 here. I like making skins, but I really want my skins to be realistic. I see people saying, "Shading makes everything better!" I was wondering if you guys could help me learn how to shade. I would really appreciate it if you did! Thanks for listening- cmums11
From one skinner to another. I tihnk you should be more focused about your skin designs before you move onto shading.,
There are plenty of tutorials on this site, learn from them, that's what I did.
Thanks! I looked at one and I figured out how to do it, here's the one i made:http://www.planetminecraft.com/skin/my-version-of-a-teen-first-time-shading-d/
