1.9.2 changing texture of redstone

I have recently started to play minecraft again (its been 3 years) anyways, ive been trying to make my own resource pack but i cannot get my custom redstone to work. I've been doing everything that i can remember back from 1.4.2 and it seems to be working up to the redstone part, and i believe that the problem is because of redstone_dust_cross_overlay.png and redstone_dust_line_overlay.png , back in 1.4.2 those boxes used to be transparent and now it is black for some reason. Does anyone know how to solve this problem???? if you can walk me through it it would be greatly appreciated.
