I would like to know if it is possible to for an example change the breaking sound for pumpkins and melons with out commands while not replacing the sound for wood. if it is possible please let me know how to do this and if you can add a template resource pack with this feature that would be very helpful.

yes you can c: depending on the version you running you would have to create a custom .sounds file for it to be traced to that exact sound you need c: just send me a personal message of the version and i could throw you a template you can start on and teach you the basics c:

I am on minecraft version 1.12.2
oh sorry didnt see this but you would need a sound.json file made but open it with notepad++ you can find all the sounds in proper browsers but icant share as it goes against the terms of service
