I have a texture pack on but it only changes the inventory not the terrain? Im new to minecraft pc, someone help me!

Your pack has not been updated to the new format. Either download an updated version, or us MCPatcher's "convert texture packs" button to update it yourself.
Yeah, it may be either because:
1. The pack only changes the items
2. It may not have been updated properly after the 1.5 update
3. It requires that you install something else (MCPatcher, etc).

Is it an up to date texturepack? Is it HD? Maybe you need to download optifine or something.
