I wanted to make a real neat resource pack (a little bit gloomy) and well, I came just came up with the following:

Pre-Alpha Update Build No. 12: The Cymru Resource Pack

Pre-Alpha Update Build No. 24: The Cymru Resource Pack Nether and Stone Update

Pre-Alpha Update Build No. 42: The Cymru Resource Pack Identity Update

Any thoughts?

I like the cobblestone texture. It actually looks kind of realistic.

Yeah, I'd change those ores. They kinda remind me of oil in water emulsion.
If you can make them pop out of the stone a bit more by adding some bevels, that'd be great.

Will do that on Friday. (As well as wool, sandstone and clay changes)

Netherrack is now tweaked.

Honestly, I don't like your grass blocks or Netherrack.
Grass blocks: They look seperate from the dirt, like when you put white around something. Try making the grass darker, maybe?
Netherrack: They are to reminiscent of your dirt blocks. The original Netherrack texture could easily be used for Red Sand, though! I'd probably stick to a red, more cracky version of your cobblestone.

The rest is awesome!

I like their design, but they're a bit noisy IMO.

They look noisy, (really rough) and don't have any sort of shading, or shadows.

I'd try the clone stamp tool. Radius 8(ish) and then ctrl + click over the top left corner to clone it. Click again in the middle area to stamp. Don't overdo it though, I really like the slightly gloomy style. The originals are all just a bit neon for me.

Not sure about the ore block but I really like the dirt and stone (although at first glance I wasn't sure if it was gravel). As Eria8 said though try to lose the darker patch in the middle of the stone. A little extra diffusion would take the repetition out of the blocks. what do you use to edit the tiles?

What I did to edit was a 3 step process (also I'm using Paint.NET):

1. Simplify - Simply make it look plain; do not overwrite other stuff that you want in there.

2. Lighten - Just used a transparent white color and scribbled it randomly.

3. Darken - Still the same as lighten, but I used a transparent black color instead.

The stone/dirt textures have that dark spot in the middle that makes it look a little too repetitive. Other than that, it definitely looks like something I would use.
