Resource pack help!

I've put my resource pack in the resource pack folder, but when I select it on minecraft for some reason it won't work. when i click on it to select it the game freezes for a second and then the default texture pack is still chosen :S

same happens to since yesterday when i want to use sphax or majoras craft ._.

Are you using a older version of minecraft,when there was only texture packs?
Maybe you changed your .minecraft.
