Texture Pack help

Hi I have recently been working on a new texture pack, its 32x32 (and is for 1.4)

I finished the terrain.png and wanted to test it out and see what my world looked like, but when I loaded the map, it just looked the same, I checked all the files in the folder / zip and nothing was unexpected or different, everything seemed to be right....

Can anyone help?
