I want to make my own texture pack, but i have no idea where to start. I have never designed anything but i want to go into game design so i figured making a texture pack would be a good place to start. If you wish to help, keep in mind that i have never made a texture pack before and have no idea how to start or what i need to do. Any sort of help would be very much appreciated!

Guys, while we are on the topic of resolutions, is it possible to use resolutions like 24x or 10x or stuff like that ? =)

Try to search up Jyles here on PMC. When you start making textures, his tutorials on his PMC account and Yt account will probably help you. It also helped me a lot!

i personally use gimp to create textures and i ussally go with instincts when im creating textures be sure take the time to plan out your ideas before starting to make one so you dont have to redo alot of textures later on, heres two links that ussally help when im stuck oh and gl on your texture pack they are a bit harder to create then they may seem

this doesnt sound too difficult. i was planning on making a 32x32 resolution pack, mainly cause i dont experience lag with 32x packs. i can run 64x but it still lags a little bit. if you guys would like to help me make it you are free to!

If this is you first texture pack, I suggest to go with the standed resulution. I am making one now, and I know that it is easyer to make one with the normal size.

Also, I use paint.net. I suggest that you use it, It is very easy to use, and very easy to understand,

well start by getting a picture editing program that supports transperancy (like Paint.net and Photoshop But paint.net is free and is really easy to use and good)
Then get these file's out of the minecraft.jar "Achievement, Armor, Art, Bg, Enviroment, Font, Gui, Item, Misc, Mob, Terrain, Title, Ctm.png, Font.txt, Pack.png, Pack.txt, particles.png, Terrain.png" then just open the .png files with Paint.net or whatever your using! I'd use the pencil tool, But you will probably get the hang of it!

Also if you don't want to use Paint.net or Photoshop, you can use Gimp also.

*BEFORE STARTING ANYTHING, DECIDE WHAT RESOLUTION YOU WANT TO DO*
These are some resolutions people tend to use to make a good HD texture pack.
64x64
128x128
256x256
512x512

On your texture pack, the two main things is the Terrain (stone, grass, ores, etc...) and the Items (the sword, potato, compass, etc...) which is in the GUI file. After you get those things over with, I would recommend doing the mobs next or doing the place able items (not the terrain but the boat, minecart, book etc..).

If you need any more help just PM me and I will try to respond as fast as I can.
