They are both good in different ways, but because I've played on bedrock all my life I'm gonna say bedrock.
java
hmm.... there would be a lot of factors if i had to pick only one, but i'd probably go with bedrock. java edition's lack of controller support basically makes this no contest.
should make it a poll
Been done [several times]
that is true but like this guy didn't, fair point though
Neither, they're both riddled with spaghetti code, lag issues, and infested with suspicious predatory Human Beings, so it's a tie.
i like both and i prefer both
Java
► where I started and BR has never come close to being good enough I'd be inclined to unlearn and relearn. (Which is not to say this would apply to someone starting out)
► fewer conssessions to infants (of all ages)
► [somewhat] less involvement in day-to-day play by MS/Mj (no realms, no marketplace, no special approved servers, etc)
Java is the original and therefore the standard by which things should work.
Particularly true for java redstone: while there are some features from BR I can see importing (like an additional form of various containers that is moveable) changes should be bringing the version adapted to the limits of other platforms [BR] into line with the original.

"(like an additional form of various containers that is moveable)" *cough *cough* moveable tile entities *cough*
Pre-zac-tilly
"…while there are some features from BR I can see importing (like an additional form of various containers that is moveable) " [emphasis added]
Note that this would also involve adding the immovable versions to BR to retain parity. [The immobile versions can be quite useful as well.]
