Everything has gone back to the way it was."

"Things aren't as bad as they used to be. Global warming has been reversed over the centuries that humans have been extinct. They left traces, and these traces have their effect. Advances come almost every day, with cures for diseases almost as quickly as the diseases themselves are discovered. Society has evolved into a first-rate monarchy. And the New Age has begun."
You yawn in the class you were forced to take. It bored you, and you had better things to do. Honestly, who would believe this? Obviously, humans weren't real. They were just a story made up from the elders who claim to have been in their care. You suspect the birds have gone to their heads.
You are a cat living in a monarchy governed by classes. You are an adult at the age of 10 (new cat years- 5 months is equal to a year.) The humans have gone extinct but cats are the new humans, even more advanced than them and have allied with mice. Anyone who eats or kills one is a criminal.

from the battle she and her brethren fought to become heir to the throne. These, however, are covered from her fur.

Whenever royalty is born, they are automatically being made plans for. They grow up with the mindset that if they're not intelligent, they're not even in the running for the throne. Each kit goes through extensive training for battle, and then they're released into an arena. It's a battle to the death, then the winner is nursed back to health and named the successor to the throne. Such is the history of Amber.

She is the typical heir. Innocent and warm, but can lie without batting an eyelash. Cold and manipulative when alone, but friendly and happy as soon as she is in the public's eye.

Backstory:
Sly was a good thief. At least he thought so. Sly had been a Cat that was born on the street and didn't have a real home. He remembers that a nice woman took him in and then he started growing up with a nice Woman. But it just gets blurrier further he goes back. From what he does know, is that the Woman's name was Sheila. Sheila Fitch. The only real reason he's a thief is to find her. Maybe someone's gonna have a note of her location or something similar. He loved her when he was younger, and wants to find her. Anyways... As Sly grew up with Sheila. Sheila would feed him and teach him. Just like a normal cat. Right? Not really, Sheila had to hide him because the apartment she lived in made her pay for both residents living in the room when she could barely afford herself. The Landlord eventually found out Sheila had been hiding Sly. And told her to give him up too an orphanage. Sheila didn't want too, Sly was like her son. Sly looked at Sheila, and as she said "Come on Sly." Sly wanted to cry, she was the only family he'd known. Her old family didn't want him and just dumped him in an alleyway. When Sly ran away from the orphanage at 14 ( Still human years) he wanted to find Sheila. He had searched and searched, after a whole YEAR of searching. He couldn't find her, and eventually he just gave up. He couldn't find a job, nobody would hire. So he chose to become a thief, for all the money he needed.

Sly is what his name implies. He's a sneaky kitty who can steal you blind without you even noticing.
