How can I decrease lag on my Pixelmon (1.12.2) Server?

I am trying to play the Pixelmon mod on my server with a couple of my friends, but the server is lagging alot, and I don't know how to decrease the lag; and that's why i'm asking the Planet Minecraft community


This is probably the wrong forum to post in, but I don't really know what is.
