I've been working on my novel, and these are some of the major places that it will take place in. What do you think? Oh, it takes place after WW3.
Australia - Safe haven for the survivors of WW3. It's a sprawling megalopolis. Home of a governing military organization.
Russia - Home of the Russians who survived WW3 in the Metro. It is a crumbling metropolis, though most of the buildings still provide refuge from the constant radioactive storms.
North to South America - Now a glorious chain of megalopolises, it keeps a steady amount of supplies to survive for the years to come. It is in conflict with Australia for control of the world.
Southeast Asia - A series of independent islands and archipelagos. The heavy rain of bombs drastically changed the climate in this part of the world, forcing upon it harsh storms and calamities. Most citizens live underground.
The Nuclear War nearly destroyed the Earth and diminished over 70% percent of its natural resources. As a result, the Pacific Ring of Fire was pacified a little.
What do you think?
and by the way, please take time to answer the poll. I need to know which time setting fits best.
Thanks!

Adding a new detail to the story (sorry to have to bump). Should I remove it? Or perhaps improve it?
The military organization in Australia turns its soldiers into cyborgs to survive against the massive radiation in the places that they want to conquer.
There's a rebellion, however, that wants to overthrow the said organization because: 1. They're against cyborgs since for them, they take out the remaining humanity that the survivors are trying to keep. And 2. They clone certain corrupt individuals (which for them is immoral) and turn them into cyborgs to keep them alive and running.
What do you think? Should I improve it or change it or remove it?

Keep language and sexual content at a minimum, we want your book to have a wide audience, don't we
Don't worry. Though there is a little love and smooching but other than that? Meh.
I have to wonder: why is there love in every book I read? Is that like, a rule or something?
I'm placing it somewhere in Southeast Asia. Specifically near the Philippines. Time to put my homeland in my story.

AethrozYour best bet would be to place the new island either close to California on the Pacific Plate/NorthAmerican Plate, or on the Phillippine/Eurasion Plate in the Japan area. They could use fusion powered boats(thats why you make it 2100 so that we have finalized fusion power) to travel to the mainland, or they can grow their crops on man made mini-islands, safely away from most of the radiation.

That was not totally random at all. Nope. Not even a little bit. That's exactly what is going on right now.
Sarcasm aside I agree. I mean of course all good books contain some foul language and slight sexual content *cough* Harry Potter*cough* But that is because you have to maintain the realism.

I'm thinking that some new islands could be formed by the bombings (is that possible?) and become independent nations.
You could say that some bombing along a continental plate caused a huge rift which uncovered a few "new" islands that were already there just underwater.
or
Bombing along a underwater continental plate-line caused the plates to fracture and collide, pushing up new islands.
This is deep (geddit). I should write this down. Thanks for the idea, man.
But how would people survive in those kinds of places? They're empty.

Just to let everyone know: the part about Russia is inspired by Metro (the novel and the game). It's where I learned that Russia's subway is actually a bunker. At least, that's how I understood it.

Aethroz2100 - 2199
This is so that you can come up with some new tech. But, we aren't completely changed as a world, Most of the major cities would still be major when the bombing starts. Yet, there is still enough time for you to make new cities or however you want to do it.

Sounds like a great novel, going based on the areas you're writing about. Glad to see that you're not making it the typical America vs China vs Russia doomsday story, and instead going with NA vs AU. Also makes it more realistic, as AU would be pretty untouched through a nuclear war. Should be an awesome plotline. Never know, might be the next big video game. Watch out Fallout!
