AMD based or Intel based?

I started out using AMD parts as it was cheaper, they worked alright, but to me the are unstable, RMAed one Phenom II CPU as it went unstable and started failing stress tests. Then upgraded to a Phenom II x6 CPU and I was not impressed, again unstable. I went looking into what Intel had to offer and I saw Sandy Bridge. I am still currently running my Intel setup with no issues, and I definitely get better performance then with AMD. I do not plan to return to AMD even tho yes they are cheaper but you get what you pay for and Intel is def worth saving for! Remember, when looking at AMD Bulldozer, they are not "technically" true eight core CPUs. They have eight physically cores yes but they 2 cores share resources together (FPUs, ALUs etc) so really its one unit. 4 of these units then gives you a Quad Core CPU. This does apply to their 6 core and quad core CPUs as well.
Also, if you go Intel choose a motherboard from Asus. I have one issue with my P8P67 Evo mobo, and just one repair on a older mobo (AMD based mobo). Their support treated me well, and it was a painless fast repair. So their support is amazing!
Bottom Line, AMD is good and will get the job done, but Intel is better if you have the cash for it.

I reckon AMD is better but I am seeing how well Intel and Nvidia go, I have been with AMD since the beginning but I wanna see the experiences with Nvidia and Intel.

I use AMD currently and I'm pretty happy with it, both my Phenom II x6 (2.8) and my Radeon HD 6870 (1gb), my machine will be turning 2 this summer. c:

Up to you. I prefer AMD at this point; the price is much more negotiable and the performance is just as good, if not better, in my experience.

I peronaly would go with the intel. While it is alot more expensive you will see better performance. If you are looking for something at around the same price point of the AMD FX8350 the i5-3570--or the i5-3570K if you plan to overclock--is a good option. Its also important to remember that the more cores doesn't always mean better performance because many applications are not multithreaded. Minecraft for example-which both processors are overkill for- is single threaded which means it can only utilize 1 core. I normally go with intel for higher end builds, you get better performance in my opinion.

The i7 core is a great core, I am moving to it soon but I prefer AMD over Intel. I find AMD a bit faster than the intel core. I think the Bulldozer is a much better cpu than the i7 so if you are willing to fork out a bit of money, the Bulldozer would be worth it. But amd generally works for standard things and work but can run games averagely. i7 and such can preform high performance tasks better such as gaming, if you are doing lots of things (like Youtube, school/office work etc.) where you require more cpu intensive things, I find my AMD performs better than the Intel core on my mum's computer from the same time. But I reckon' the Bulldozer is better from what I have seen and heard, but I don't know eveything. But remember, Google is your best friend

You can save money by getting the FX but the 3770k performs better.
You might also want to look into an i5-3570k, it still outperforms the FX but it is also cheaper.
