Yes, it can. It'll run it fine too, except for the gpu. It's integrated into the motherboard, and it's a bad one on top of that. Try to get a dedicated gpu, and you'll be fine, you'll then have a somewhat decent PC to game on.
Other than that, it's fine. The gpu will just make it a bit slow, but that gpu will make it slow on every version.

I was going to say that the name of the PC isn't enough for us to tell you, but you were nice enough to include the model number, so I'm assuming this is it.
It probably can run Windows 8, but I would suggest either replacing or installing a second hard drive. 640 GB isn't really a lot, these days.
Before installing Windows 8, I would suggest upgrading your hardware. Nearly everything is pretty outdated.

What Microsoft version would you suggest?
Do you have 1gb or more of ram?
Also do you have a cpu that's got over 1ghz.
