<<Dedicated Server>> [What Machine?]
So I'm going to try do something that is rather uncommon. Basically, I want to host a server from home. 24/7. On a dedicated machine. If you don't understand, then put it this way; I am starting a hosting company. That has one server. Which will be mine.
So I know how to make servers, I'm very experienced with them, but I don't know exactly what to host them on. I have seen something by Lenovo, but it has no hard drive. Can someone help? Links are appreciated.

It was a used Dell PowerEdge 1950.
It has two dual-core Xeon processors clocked at 3.0 GHz, the one I got had 16 GB of DDR2 RAM (max of 32), and had 2x 300 GB hard drives.

I got a nice Dell rack server from Geeks.com, but they went out of business not too long ago...

Thanks for the help guys, but I need some links. I know minecraftonian gave me links but that is too expensive. I'm looking at a max of £500.
Along with what minecraftonian said, just imagine a server as a jacked up computer. You'll need a certain motherboard that supports high end data compression drives, a server processor, which is a processor that is extremely fast with transferring data from HDD to RAM, server memory (or course), a good chip set (video card) and some really good internet. It's pretty expensive to have a server, but a lot of dedicated nerds have them.
You'll need everything a normal computer has, but it's all server based. I suggest that when you (if you) get a server, you don't use HDD but SSD. HDD is hard disk space (in-case you don't know), but is much slower when transferring to RAM. If you have SSD it will be much faster, but will be smaller.
You may not need any of this at first, but if your server gets big you may. I also suggest learning as much as you can about a server, as that what a server owner should know.

Here's a link (They can be expensive) The 1st one is a base model, however the second one is monster. Blizzard (From World of Warcraft) uses these kinds of servers. (Couple of 100 till a couple of 1000 online at the same time)
