What is a good tablet, but not super expensive? Preferably under $200. And, will it be usable on SumoPaint and/or GIMP 2.0?

Ah, thanks everyone. I'm thinking of Wacom. Anything else I should consider?

Wacom Bamboo, I use that. It works pretty nice and it's cheap, well, atleast cheaper than an Intuos.

wacom bamboo splash thing.
If its your first one, that's the one you should get.
A good 100 or so dollars and you're good.
It depends on where you get it from really.
I got mine for free cus amazon is gucci that way

For beginners, I highly recommend the Wacom Intous small pen and touch.

I really like the Bamboo's from Wacom, they look really nice, but I guess performance is better :p I'll look at everything tomorrow on my PC

I use a Wacom Bamboo Splash and it works nicely. But Wacom is basically discontinuing that line.
Also, I'm thinking about getting an upgrade. Currently I'm looking at the Wacom Intuos CTL 480.

A perfectly acceptable draw space (you don't need anything massive) and the price is perfectly reasonable. The 480 doesn't have an eraser. But if you learn to use an art tablet without one, you'll never miss it. Usually you can just use a hot key to activate an eraser.

57r4dI'd take a look at the Tegra Note 7, it's inexpensive but it should do what you need.
I wasn't really looking for a tablet tablet

Most of the wacom things would do. I do see people going with bamboo variations though.

This is a tablet that i use quite extensively. It isn't as large as some of the others out there (with the actual drawing surface being about 8-9" by 5-6"), but it is very precise, and is pressure sensitive. For its price, i have not found one better. I primarily use it for Photoshop, and it works magnificently on either MAC or PC without the need to install any software. It is very portable (as i have traveled with it, used it at school and work). My only complaint (and this is probably with every tablet) is that it is hard to remain steady for very minute adjustments (such as ensuring to click exactly on the same spot as before, like for using the clone stamp to repair parts of an image). I just use my computer's trackpad or mouse for this instead. All in all, this is one of the best investments i have ever made regarding any sort of computer hardware.
