You could get the same card for $300 and r9 390 is better anyways, and some people might want a better GPU instead of a better mobo and cpu

It is impossible to have a future proof PC, unless you're shelling out thousands of dollars on a Titan X/Fury X2 (when it comes out) SLI/XFire.
Anyway, for the price, the build you listed isn't even that good.

-4790k has literally no benefit over the 4690k in gaming performance
-Added a CPU cooler (Stock cooler with 4790k is not pretty)
-32gb of ram is literally not necessary even in the slightest
-Smaller/Cheaper HDD--Added SSD
-980 added
-Better case. No one is going to put a $1000+ PC in a $30 case

For a future proof PC, wouldn't it be better to go with Skylake so you're not stuck on DDR3...?
There is no way to future proof a pc/computer all you can do really is buy new hardware and don't overclock
