Hard-Disk Problems

I recently came into the ownership of a pair of Hard-disks that were on RAID, (not sure if that is the best way to describe it but anyway) I have taken plugged them into my computer and am trying to recover some files off of it but it doesn't seem to want to work for me, I have tried using Ubuntu to just access the files but it always says there was a problem with "FakeRaid" or something like that. The disks have multiple partitions and I can access 2 of the 3 on there. Does anyone know of a way to fix this problem and get said files from these Hard-Drives?
