What games are you playing and at what resolution? I'm 99% sure you won't need to spend that much. You probably would be fine with something 1000$ less if not cheaper.
Killertoad one question can i get a prediction on when the 800 series of nvidia gpus and 5th gen i7's will be releasing?
To be honest I don't think you'll be needing an i7 right now anyway. Assuming you get a Z97 board, you will eventually want to replace the CPU you get now with a 5th gen CPU. If you get an i7 now, you'll just be wasting more money. If you really want an i7, get an i5 (or even a nice i3, to save yourself more money) for now, and replace it with a 5th gen i7 when they come out.

Hm, I've seen other benchmarks, and the 290 also beats the 780 is some benchmarks. But look anyways, 2 FPS? Is that worth $100? Any it'll beat the 780 in BF4, and thief, and Mantle supported games.

These changes for sure. Not to mention that the whole build is probably way overkill for what you will be doing with it.

None of those require a i7, a i5-4670k has the same performance in-game as the 4770k, while being $100 cheaper.

Slower for me at least. It tries to be something it cannot be. Windows 8 seems to try to make everything smoother, when it just makes it much harder to use. The theme is terrible, the charms thing is horribly annoying, metro is completely useless and just ends up bugging you, programs don't work well, functionality is really low, and finding anything is a real pain. I understand that some people may like Windows 8, but I haven't gotten used to it after a year of using it, and never will. I had to download several programs to override the terrible features Windows 8 has and to make it look more like Windows 7, because I feel safe with it. Windows 8 can do anything at any moment, and I do not want to constantly worry about random side bars popping up, or me going to a main screen and opening up a random program I never wanted to open up in the first place.
Just my opinion.

Also OP, good choice keeping Windows 7 - much better for gaming and usage overall. I got Windows 8 on my laptop, and if I had another version of Windows 7, I would format it all in an instant. I really loathe the new Windows - nothing works at all.

From what i have heard the R9 290 should have about the same performance, however runs on far more power levels and gets a lot hotter. And basically can't be overclocked because of heat problems.
I have watched a lot of benchmarks about the r9 290 and it should run games like BF 4 on ultra while recording with 60 fps.
Well i gotta admit, NVIDIAS buildup on graphics cards are mostly better, but this could change next year.

1. Change OS to Windows 8.1, it functions better than windows 7 overall and has less bugs, as well as faster for gaming.
2. You could switch the 2 GTX 770's with a GTX 780, not all games support SLI/Crossfire connections.
3. You will not need the Ultimate version of windows, unless you are doing serious stuff. Which is not gaming.
4. I highly doubt you need a blue ray disc reader, but if you want it. And spend $40 extra, then sure.
5. Will you be overclocking? Overclocking the i7 4770 won't change much for gaming performance, as it is powerful enough to run the most cpu focused games on the market. Added to that almost no graphical games are very CPU intensive.
The 4770 without the K is $40 cheaper, you won't need the cooler then, $140 saved in total. Use the $140 to buy a few games i do say.
6. You will not need that motherboard, go with a Z87 series or H87 if you are not overclocking.
7. There is currently not a single game that requires more than 8gb of ram, it could be useful in the future. But you could save some bucks for now.

Really, the only thing I'd recommend if you're going that price range of keyboard, is to get one with mechanical keys. Corsair makes some really nice, laser etched keys (That don't fade) that use Cherry Red switches.

You'll want to switch out Windows 7 for Windows 8.1 (Pro?), because depending on when you get the money pooled, Windows 7 will not be supported. Mainstream support for Windows 7 (AKA for everyone but businesses/developers) ends next January.

Mainstream programs and whatnot still work with Windows XP...so not much you'll be missing if you keep Windows 7.

Also, two insanely strong graphics cards is really overkill - I think you would benefit much more if you got rid of both, got a stronger one, and then get a second monitor. Two monitors (or even more) are so useful. Trust me, you'll love it (unless you don't have space on your desk, then you won't love it).
Besides that, looks like a really strong computer (I would think so for 2.8k).

The problem with your plan is that you will most likely be installing Windows 7 after support ends, meaning that your computer will be a target literally from the moment it boots.
