Hello there! I need some help. I need to decide which cpu to use. I am building off a build (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Vj3LK8) and I am not sure what cpu I should use. I am going to be mainly using th computer for minecraft, homework, and modpacks + steam games. I am trying to keep below a budget of 500 dollars. Tell me if the pentium is fine, and if not, which I should use! Any other suggestions are appreciated! thanks!

no no no, the best CPU[in my option] to get is i5-4430, 3Ghz 4-core CPU, 16MB chase good overclocking, can run any game atm, also it has a really good price/performace value

it's not the best, nor the best option at all. And it's not opinion based... Plus it can't overclock.

But it's a $500 budget with everything, so you can't fit an i5 in there (well, you can, but the rest of the build will suck).

If you can source the i3-4130 second hand, it may dip to a much more affordable price. Try eBay, or in the UK, Cex.

You won't need to overclock it for it to work fine. But if you feel you want to, you can change the speed of the cores in the BIOS, I believe. But I also think that MSI Afterburner will work as well. Might want to research if you plan on overclockint

Without overclocking would it still run ok? I like the price, it's really good. But... I'm not sure about overclocking, I really don't want to ruin my computer, and I have a feeling that's probably what will happen if I try. Lol.

I would recommend the Pentium G3258 because it has an unlocked multiplier so you would be able to overclock later in the future if you want to, without even needing to buy a cooler.

Hmmm. That makes my price about 65$ over... Dangit. What is the difference between the penguin and the i3? I mean, I could do it, but I would have to wait to like, the beginning of August. =P I make about a hundred dollars (I deserve more XD) three times over the summer. Selling cotton candy at fairs. Lol.

Ok. The CPU you have chosen isn't great for gaming, but can very easlily be upgraded to something better. However, i would switch it for an i3 4130. In fact, your build is nearly identical to mine! I can tell you, that case is good Your GPU would also be much better suited for the i3
