PLEASE HELP!!! Ok... So I was on my PC running windows xp playing minecraft fine. I just updated my minecraft server to 1.7.2 and I was going to prepare to play minecraft. So I go to the page with all of the profiles and I click on mine. It then sys that you have made changes to this account and you will not be able to save any changes you make. I the. Rebooted my computer to try again. It then says loading your personal settings for about 5 minutes so I rebooted again. When I logged into my account, the desktop backround was a blue color and I only had 5 of my desktop icons. Recycle bin, google earth, chrome, and audacity. I got nervous and I reboot again. Same problem. I rebooted but waited like 10 min so maybe it would fix itself. My brothers, moms, dads profiles are all Working and I can still go to my documents for all things word related but all of my games such as gmod, half life, terraria, but most important, my minecraft game and all of my worlds. I can go to app date but it's as if I restarted and created a brand new profile. and now I am scared that my server, worlds, games, and mods are all most for good. Can anyone help me or if anyone has ever had this issue before , did you fix it, did you lose your stuff for good? PLEASE HELP PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Sounds like that needs a system wipe as well. It doesn't sound like there is anything worth keeping on there anymore since it's all gone. You should stop going to shady websites and downloading "Stuff"

You are gonna want to put your Minecraft files onto a USB or an external hardrive OR onto cloud storage, such as Google Drive. You can do this by going onto your Minecraft launcher, clicking on "Edit Profile", clicking on "Open Game Dir" and then copy your "Saves" folder and paste it onto your desktop. Then you can put it onto any other storage device or cloud storage website.

Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/#my-drive
OR you can use Dropbox

You won't be able to play Minecraft until you get a new PC, it sounds like yours it pretty messed up. You could try and do a system recovery if XP has that, which will wipe your system and start it back to scratch. You will still have to save your Minecraft files however.

The thing is is my entire user account for the pc was sort of reset. I still have all of my documents such as word files or power points but no minecraft. I just really need 2 worlds badly and I can transfer them to another pc but those 2 worlds... Were... My entire minecraft experience... Oh well thanks for your comment

Windows XP will be unsupported as of April 8, 2014. I suggest you upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1. If you computer is running XP, it must have been built around 2001-2006 as Vista came out in 2007. That being said, your computer is most likely too old to support Minecraft, as Mojang is getting rid of support from older programs so they can further optimize Minecraft. This includes support of OpenGL 2.1 and lower soon, as Mojang has said. OpenGL 2.1 came out in 2006, which is around the time your computer came out so it has been outdated.

OpenGL 2.1 info from Mojang: https://help.mojang.com/customer/portal ... gl-support

Thank you for all of the comments but I will not be here for about an hour so I cannot respond to any upcoming comments but I will read them all. I will do almost anything to fix the computer.

Do what he says, windows saves when it shuts down. And shutting it down with the physical power button is like turning closing out of a document without saving

This could be happening due to not shutting down the computer properly. If you hold the power button on the machine your going to loose some data, wether its your files or if its damage to your system's registry etc, But if your turning the computer off via the start menu > shutdown then i dont see why its doing it..
